A teenager has been hospitalised after a collision involving a bus in Hartlepool.

The 17-year-old girl was walking along Catcote Road – close to Rossmere School when the crash happened.

The road was completely closed until around 7pm and diversions were put in place to allow emergency services to deal with the crash.

The girl was taken to James Cook University Hospital to be treated for leg injuries.

A Cleveland Police spokeswoman said: “Just after 4.30pm today a collision involving a bus and a 17-year-old female pedestrian took place.

“The bus had been travelling south along Catcote Road and had just passed the junction with Wynyard Road.

“We would like to thank the public for their co-operation and understanding during this time.

“We would also like to thank those members of the public who assisted at the scene while emergency services were en route.”
