A woman has appeared before a judge charged with murdering a mother-of-three who was stabbed to death in the street.

Julie Wass, 49, did not enter a plea when she appeared at Teesside Crown Court on Friday charged with murdering Kelly Franklin.

Torbjorn Kettlewell, 30, of The Oval, Hartlepool, had already appeared in court to deny the murder of Ms Franklin who was his ex-partner

Wass, of Kipling Road, Hartlepool, appeared via video link from Low Newton Prison in Durham.

Judge Simon Bourne-Arton QC told her she was being remanded in custody ahead of a further hearing to take place next month.

Kettlewell has already denied murder and possession of a knife and a trial date has been set for January.

Ms Franklin was found dead in Oxford Road in Hartlepool on August 3 following the incident.
