New roadworks will begin around the Stockton area this week – and they’re likely to cause delays.

Stockton Council has revealed that fresh work will start in five new locations in the coming days, including on the A19.

Drivers are urged to take note of the routes that will be affected, to minimise delays.

The roads where work will take place are:

• A689/A1185 Wolviston Roundabout, Billingham (TS22 5JZ)

Starts October 8 until October 14.

It’s a temporary road closure.

The road will be affected overnight from 8pm to 6am only (for up to 7 nights) for carriageway resurfacing works.

• A19 Tees Viaduct between the A66 interchange and Portrack interchange

Full Road Closure (diversion route via A66, Cannon Park, A1032 Newport Bridge).

This starts October 8 to October 12.

The road will be affected overnight between 9pm and 6am for routine maintenance.

• A177 Durham Road, Stockton, junction with Thorpe Leazes Lane

There will be temporary traffic signals on Monday, October 8, so workmen can access to underground chamber.

• High Lane, Maltby, between Low Lane and A19 overbridge

They will be in operation from 8.30am to 3.30pm to allow the creation of a new footpath.

There will be a temporary road closure on Monday, October 8 until Thursday, October 11, for “public realm works”.
