A 12-year-old boy was attacked outside a McDonald’s by a boy who reportedly stamped on his head.

And his mum has been left annoyed that it took police two days to come and take a picture of his injury.

Gemma Dobson’s son, Corey, was out on Sunday at the McDonald’s on Thrush Road, Redcar .

The 34-year-old care assistant said “some lad” went up to the 12-year-old and started “mouthing off at him,” accusing him of “pinching a kids scooter.”

After saying he had his own scooter, Gemma claims another youth put her son on the floor in front of the takeaway, and kicked him to the head.

She found out about the incident following a phone call and “flew out” of her house.

She found her son who was upset.

“He was crying. I went to look for the kids myself. I was fuming,” Gemma told Teesside Live.

She reported the incident to the police on Sunday and an officer came to take a photo of the boy’s injuries on Tuesday morning.

Gemma says she was “annoyed” by the two day delay.

Gemma added: “He’s 12 years old. I was crying on the phone to the officer. Someone has been out for the photo. I am still waiting for someone to come out and get a statement.

“I just want to get this sorted out.”

But Cleveland Police reassured Gemma by saying the investigation is being pursued with officers already having obtained CCTV footage.

A spokeswoman said: “Police received a report of an assault at McDonalds on Thrush Road, Redcar, at 5.15pm on Sunday, October 7.

“A 12-year-old boy suffered a bruised eye.

“Enquiries are well under way, including having retrieved CCTV footage, and those involved will be spoken to in due course.”

Gemma has also contacted Anna Turley, Labour MP for Redcar and Cleveland, who has also been contacted for comment.
