Middlesbrough businessman Wayne Spriggs is moving his family stateside after US sales for his high-end bathroom firm went through the roof.

The Teessider is cleaning up across the pond, with predicted US sales for his Marton-based Lusso Stone at £20m.

The company, whose stone resin products have been taken up by exclusive London five-star hotels Claridge’s and The Connaught, is also planning to target the Canadian and Mexican markets.

Wayne is relocating to open a showroom in America and he’s taking his partner Nicola Pentland and son, Sonny Spriggs, with him.

“I’m excited to get started on the US side of the business and will be running the business initially with Nicola and Sonny,” he said.

“We are also looking to create around 10-15 jobs to run the day to day operations in the US once the office and showroom is open.”

Demand for the Marton based business’ stone bath products has grown steadily over the last few years and the company has been shipping products to America every week.

“It’s obvious that there is significant demand for our products in America and once the US office is running smoothly we are looking to expand into Canada then onto Mexico, this will hopefully start in late 2020.”

Lusso Stone has doubled its revenue after partnering up with Teesside-based Acquiro Digital, co-founded by brothers Christopher and Philip Hankinson, who have experienced their own impressive business growth, turning over £1m in their first year.

A spokesperson for Acquiro added: “We’re delighted with the success of our work with Lusso Stone, it’s a testament to the quality of the brand and the hard work from both teams.”
