A huge tree branch has come crashing down on a road in Guisborough as Storm Callum continues to batter Teesside.

One resident on Sinnington Close in the market town described how they were “very lucky” it didn’t strike any parked cars.

They told Teesside Live how vehicles are usually parked where the huge branch fell, but thankfully, nothing was damaged.

Tree surgeons were at the scene clearing up the mess on Friday morning.

Strong winds around the area have led to debris on the roads, as the miserable weather continues to make driving difficult.

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for the Teesside area, and it’s set to be in place until 11.59pm on Friday.

The notice warns of strong winds, with some delays to road and rail transport likely.

The warning adds that delays for high-sided vehicles on exposed routes and bridges are likely.

The outlook for Saturday is also fairly bleak. No warnings are in place, but heavy rain is expected throughout most of the morning, with light rain set to continue in the evening.

The forecast is predicting that Sunday will be brighter, with very little chance of rain throughout the day.
