Pumpkins are synonymous with Halloween.

And although you can head to a supermarket for one, why not make a day of it and pick your own?

So here’s a few suggestions of pumpkin patches to visit within around an hour of Teesside.

Some of the farms even offer the chance to pick your own straight from the field and offer other spooky events for the family.

North Shire, Liverton, East Cleveland

The Hobbit house at North Shire

The pumpkin patch here is open throughout October from 9.30am until 4.30pm.

There are thousands to choose from too and prices are £2, £4, or £10 depending on size.

The venue also hosts wand making sessions and face painting on weekends.

Birchfield Family Dairies, Harrogate

Here you can pick your very own pumpkin from the thousands grown from seed.

The festival takes place from October 6 to October 31.

There is also a pumpkin carving shed, hay rides through the corn maze and fancy dress.

Hop on board the tractor-trailer ride to the pumpkin patch where little ones can pick their own pumpkin for free – there’s over 10,000 to choose from.

The Pumpkin Festival takes place from 10am until 5:30pm every weekend in October and every day from October 27 to November 4 at Piglets Adventure Farm.

Hugely popular, those interested in this annual event must make sure to book.

Families are invited to scrabble for their own pumpkins in the hay at Brockbrushes – and you can also take a ride on a tractor trailer.
