His stories seem to get funnier – but perhaps Bob Mortimer surpassed himself with his latest Teesside-tinged tale on BBC1 show Would I Lie To You.
The Boro-born funnyman’s outlandish – and made up – tale of Chris Rea cracking an egg into Bob’s bath after they had recorded Boro’s 1997 FA Cup Final song has gone viral, with many viewers saying it was among the funniest things they’d ever seen.
And it cements Bob’s position as one of the panel show’s most popular – and random – panellists.
Over the years on the show, where teams have to guess whether people are telling the truth or not, Bob’s claims have included setting fire to his house with a box of fireworks; terrorising his neighbourhood with a game he invented called “theft and shrubbery” and that he recently charmed a spider out of a show by tooting a flute at it.
We’ve compiled some of Bob’s best tales into a quick, True or Lie quiz below.
You may find it a little easy if you’ve already seen every episode. If you haven’t seen them yet, we strongly recommend a catch-up.
Even if you know the answers, you’ll still doubt yourself as you listen to Bob tell his tales. You can also vote for your favourite tale below.
