A motorist had to be removed from their vehicle by fire brigade crews after being involved in a car crash.

Emergency services went to Thirsk Road, in Kirklevington , after the collision near to the Crown Hotel.

Two fire crews from Middlesbrough and Stockton had to “extricate” one person from a car after the incident on Tuesday.

Paramedics took the patient to the University Hospital of North Tees, in Stockton.

A spokeswoman for the North East Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 3.46pm to a report of a collision on Thirsk Road, Kirklevington.

“We dispatched one double crewed ambulance and one crew from the Hazard Area Response Team.”

They added: “One patient was taken to the University Hospital of North Tees.”

No further details were released.
